Nutritional Counseling

I just had a small session with my nutritional coach, and I'm feeling seen and supported. I am absolutely not saying weight loss should be your goal. This is more of a personal story that I feel like sharing. I gained 40 pounds since I moved to the US from Japan in 2019. This is due to a lot of physical and emotional instability, as well as not having my own space to store, prepare, and choose the foods that are good for my body.

The first time I tried this program in 2017, I used it to help me prepare for a pole dance competition. This time, was more of an emotional journey.

When hubs and I bought our home in April 2021, I was finally able to control all the food in my house, and it felt great! I limited my calories to lose the baggage, but then in July, I hit a wall. Even with very few daily calories (1200?!?!), and tons of exercise (heavy weight lifting, pole dance, and zumba), my weight was stagnant. I also didn't feel like this caloric goal was sustainable or realistic for my lifestyle.

I sought the help of a professional, and it was from a business that I have used in the past when I needed to hit a particular weight and strength for a pole dance competition in 2017. (I won, by the way!) They helped me lose weight, maintain, and continue with my life eating what is good for me, and releasing the need to count every single calorie or macro.

Then life happened, 2020 happened, 2 years without our own home happened. That's why I sought help. In July, I started attending weekly small group zoom sessions with others taking the program, and the online connection learning about people's struggles and successes. My coach actually gave me MORE calories, and I ended up losing weight! I wouldn't have known that. If I were on my own since July, after hitting that wall, I might not have continued. I would have been at a loss for knowing what to do. I seriously thought that all I needed was a caloric deficit to lose weight, and it's more than that. It's about balance. It's about nutrition. It's about addressing what my body needs, and for me, this program helped me continue on this journey with support from my coach and others also going through the same situations.

I am absolutely not telling you that you need to lose weight. I simply saw the 40 pounds that I gained since 2019 as a physical manifestation of baggage that I needed to emotionally release, and it was the small group sessions, I was able to address this release.

Just in case you're interested, I have 10ish pounds to go if my goal were to come back to my 2019 weight, but as I continue with my own emotional journey, I think I should release the "goal weight number." More importantly, I am releasing the emotional baggage that the weight brought.

The reason I'm sharing this is because it's important to know when you need support, or when you need to bring in a professional. It's so much easier when you have someone with you to hold your hand and help you learn about yourself in the process.

I am not a nutritional coach, but here is what I can offer you. Meditation, Reiki, Yoga, Pole Dance, Freestyle, Crystals

What do you need help with? What do you offer?

I haven't lost all the weight that I gained since moving from Japan to the US in 2019, but I am releasing this weight loss goal. I am choosing to focus on sustainable nutritional food that helps me be the best version of myself. Don't get me wrong, I am not done with my nutritional small-group counseling sessions yet! My goals have changed, and I appreciate being seen and heard.
